USG Testing Sites Adapt to Meet Growing eCore Proctored Exam Demand

The eCore Edge: A Quarterly Newsletter Brought to you by USG eCampus

2019, Vol. 1

Proctored exams have increased in numbers along with eCore enrollment growth. Typically, students complete their proctored exams at their home institution's testing center. However, many students test using an online proctoring service. In addition, students may test at other approved locations through the state of Georgia including several technical colleges and Georgia's VECTR Center. Students must take at least one proctored exam in each eCore course in order to be considered for course academic success.

Graph of eCore Proctored Exam Growth since FY 2014

USG eCampus' 21 affiliate institutions offer on-site proctored exam services and several operate more than one campus location. The student cost per proctored exam varies between institutions and averages around $25 across all eCore affiliates.

Students schedule their exams directly through the learning management system where they can choose an affiliate testing site or other testing options. USG testing sites provide testing windows and time slots that coincide with the eCore testing calendar. Each center also provides an ever-present test proctor who ensures process and academic integrity, verification of allowed materials as specified by the course professor, and administratively assists students as required. A few testing centers even offer evening and Saturday appointments to accommodate busy eCore students.

The USG eCampus team continues to evaluate the proctored exam process for improvements and to remove proctored exam barriers resulting in enhanced student experiences and success. However, our most valued partners are our affiliate testing directors and coordinators who see and directly serve the majority of eCore students.

Know that you aren’t alone. The January Blues and the February Slump are well recognized. If you have these feelings, embrace them and understand that occasional blues are normal. Get outdoors . As an online student, it’s very important that you are intentional about spending time in the sunlight. USG eCampus Helps HR Staffer Find Second Chance at College After Pandemic

Jasmin Khan recalls the unease she felt when working at a hospital as a Human Resources Assistant during COVID-19. Like so many, Khan found unexpected challenges when the pandemic brought physical and emotional hardships to most Americans. Acknowledging the “chaos in her life” caused by the pandemic, she left the job she loved to take a remote role.  While remote work felt safer, she soon realized that her lack of a four-year degree limited her career opportunities. When considering pursuing a promotion, she became concerned that she had the skill set but was lacking the required level of education. No matter how impressive her experience, career progression was difficult without a bachelor’s degree.  And as a busy mother of two young children, she found flexible and affordable options for returning to school very limited. The Search for Flexibility and Quality Then she discovered Georgia Southwestern University’s online programs through USG eCampus. “It felt like a breath of ...
